A Suggestion

I'm just wondering if we can make it a rule to ask in the main chat to PM. I'm tired of all the nasty people PMing me. Yes, I know I'm adorable, but that doesn't mean you have to PM me to tell me that. And my diapers are none of your business unless I volunteer that info.

How would it be enforced?

By having a dedicated chat mod to report to.

Tara, we're supposed to have chat mods (I.E Me and Alex)

It would be nice to be asked to pm. It can be annoying when a pm screen suddenly pops up.

Yes, especially when you're typing in the main chat, and it starts typing in the PM that just popped up. That makes me mad.

I didn't know that, it should be posted somewhere. And we should be encouraged to inform one of you if we have an issue.

I haven't used chat in years, and aparantly things haven't changed much. Can't you block or ignore people you don't want to talk to? can't we self moderate with out an official moderator ?

You can block PMs from people individually, but some days there's so many different people PMing me, and I'm sure some make new names when/if they get blocked from chat, that it's a never ending cycle.

After much thought on the moderation issue, i feel, that a moderator would be good to perhaps warn, or temporarily kick members who simply sit in the room and pm everyone who comes in, however, i would fear if the moderator did more many people could be banned, kicked, warned simply because the moderator did not agree with what they were saying, or how they were saying it.

I feel the chatroom is another form of free expression, and just like on the boards when those who 'spam' or intentionally cause trouble are warned and then kicked, this could be employed in the chatroom. Again, the question is the ability to remain partial to the conversation. Perhaps a moderator who was present during 'high traffic' times who's only job was to warn and temp. kick members who were clearing 'spamming' with pm's and no other authority....

I have an idea. what if you change it to where instead of someone just being able to randomly pm you in the middle of the chat, they have to ask you if you would like to chat. So instead of just being able to send someone a pm, you would send that person a request and the reciever would accept or decline. If that person consistently request a chat than you can report them or block them. Or when you decline a private chat, it auto ignores them for you. Juat a sugestion, might be a lot of work to set up but I can understand the frustration of being in the middle of typing and right before you finish it automatically switches to the private message. I have sent the wrong response before to people who private invite me. Can be specially upseting, but I dont do irc chats anymore because there is to much drauma. (nothing against the dailydiapers.com irc, that comment is to all chat irc's. ...well i mean you will get drauma when you have a bunch of bratty babies in one room! :P)

that idea all depends on the chat software and if it offers that option....... i like the whole accept decline thing... but i'm not sure the software allows for that.....

Yeah, that's a good suggestion. As long as it pops up in a tab without interrupting the main chat or another PM you're in. That's my other big issue, other than weirdos I don't care to talk to.

The Scoop:

There are Mods in the chatroom. Not always mind you- we need sleep too :whistling: but we can monitor anonymously so you can never know for sure if we're there or not :ninja: This boards software doesn't have a way to sort Chat PM's :( You have to block them individually or turn off the PM function. Biggie: Our site rules require that you first ask before PM'ing someone else in chat - no exceptions except for friends who you already know want to see your PM's. If you aren't sure then ask on the chat board first - then do as the intended recipient asks you to do :blush:You can be banned for screwing up in chat just the same as on these forums :o Yep- rules are rules everywhere ;)

Report rules violations and we will investigate keeping your name anonymous B) We can go back into the Chatroom Logs and see what has gone on in there later :angel_not:

You cannot escape us. We know all. We are the Moderators. Chatters beware or the dreaded Banhammer will falleth upon thee! :bash:

So you can actually already set it up to where you have to ask for permission to pm someone? It has been so long since I have been in a chat room that I can not even remember really what options you get in the room. :P Well, if you already have the option of requiring other chat peeps to request a pm then that is cool. then you could always report any issues that you come a crossed with someone to a mod. I did not know that you could sneak in and out like a ninja! :ninja: Also it is cool you can go back and check out what went on. :)

I've been negged! Waaaaah! :crybaby: Boo Hoo :P Ask me if I care :angel_not: And if Sarah hit the same button again, she'd be reneging :roflmao:

One more thing I should have added to my earlier reply: Please try to play nicely in the Chatroom  While there are no specific rules about that, if the teacher sees you misbehaving she'll send you to the Principal's office :o He's a meanie who will put you in time out, and if you're really bad, you might get a spanking too :excl:

So it IS a rule already? It should be posted somewhere prominent. Somewhere on the chat page, maybe under the top ad banner?

well while i have never been shy about admitting i enjoy having hte plus and neg. buttons, i do not like neg'ing someones post when i simply meant to hit multi quote! lol.... so thought i'd explain to others that no one had intentionally neg'd that post... cause u know.... then it could snowball, and suddenly u have like 500 negative rep points and i mean we all know how serious the reputation system is to be taken!!! :P

Even if you had a giant window pop up when you first go in saying don't PM without permission you would still have people doing it. Some people are just inconsiderate or don't care, as such you will always have unwanted PMs.

Sadly this is true :( A fairly large portion of internet users are simply inconsiderate jerks who think that because they're accessing it through their PC, they have a right to do as they please :screwy: And then when they find themselves in trouble over breaking rules somewhere, they get mad- as if the world is supposed to let them get by with it while making everyone else toe the line  You wouldn't believe some of the responses and arguments Mods get when they have to act. It would be funny were it not for these people actually believing themselves to be right :bash: I dropped in chat one day and got 3 PM's right away- two from friends and one from a Newbie who wanted to.... umm, let's not go there  I replied with one word: "Moderator" :ninja: and within 30 seconds he checked out of the entire website and hasn't been back since :roflmao:

You can't convince me that this guy didn't know he was in the wrong- he was simply trolling and trying to get away with it. And on a public site like this one that will happen- it goes with the territory :whistling: So if you get an unwanted PM ask them to stop; and if they don't report them. We will do what is necessary to keep this the best dang ABDL website there is :D

But it shouldn't have to be that way. It's a rule to ask in main chat to PM, which I am now aware of, and if I get an unsolicited PM, I report them, then I inform them since they didn't ask to PM, they have been reported.
