For the most part I guess I'm agnostic. While I hold to many of the christian beliefs and concepts, I just don't know about God. I think there is something out there which may have some controlling/ deciding factor in our existance/afterlife, etc. I can't define it.

But I am so against most churches for I find it hard to worship in a place that has to spend $50,000 a waterfall in the church, or someother extravagance when that money could be used for more practical purposes within the community. I don't believe that a person should have to give any sort of amount of money, or be required to give, in order to maintain a status within that setting. It's not to say that many religious organizations are not performing a useful purpose within society, though, many do.

I consider myself a spiritual person, but I don't believe in any of the organised religions. To me they were invented by man, usually to control other men.

If there is a God (and I think there is, but in an Agnostic sense) it (I say 'it' because I don't want to call it 'he' and imagine some guy with a big white beard) would be so powerful beyond belief that we would be far too insignificant to even comprehend it. Think about it, in relation to the entire universe, the Earth and humankind are just not significant. I'm not saying we don't matter, but if the Earth or even the whole solar system went 'pop' right now it probably wouldn't be much of a blip in our own galaxy, let alone other galaxies.

One of the previous guys asked why only we humans believe in a God, and why is it common throughout the world? The skeptic in me says it's because we are the only animals on the planet with the brain capacity to be aware of our own mortality, i.e. we are the own living things on this planet that know we will definitely die one day.

Imagine if we all found out tomorrow that there is absolute evidence that God doesn't exist, Imagine that, no afterlife. I wonder what we would do? Maybe we'd even stop fighting over religion and just enjoy the relatively short time each of us have........maybe.

Being raised as a Mormon has left alot of deep Christian habits...so I've voted agnostic. I've been put on the spot about this fetish I have for diapers and a ton of other things by organized religions so I have a major hatred of such. Mormon vs. Christian...wtf is the difference I ask? If you avoid all the little details they are Christians as well. You both believe Christ was nailed to a cross and that he was the son of god...fucking get over each other. I'm sick of the goddamn Mormon movies and the way any organized religion will sell themselves out so badly. I deeply respect Buddhists for the lack or commercialism, I have no Idea what a Buddhist actually believes though so that option is not there. Atheism seems to boring though haha. I know there's more to the universe than earth and us...and supreme beings and other bizarre things exist too. A joke I tell my friends over and over goes something like this "Yeah I believe in something like a god. But if "God" exists don't you think he'd be too busy with some supreme cosmic responsibility to send missionaries to my fucking door at 5 o'clock in the morning?" I also KNOW in my heart that saying "God dammit" is not a sin. I say "God dammit" in a different way. I show disrespect to the image of god that society and people as a whole have created. Judaism is bullocks to me...circumcision is W-R-O-N-G. All in all I'm not a religious person, I just go with my feelings.

Other than that you think organised religion is okay, lol.

All joking aside, I try to respect anyones beliefs, but my big beef with organised religion is:

1) They are all man made, often with changes added for political reasons through the centuries.

2) Most of then follow a holy text to the letter, even when we know that text has changed through the centuries.

3) Most people follow them because their parents and grandparents do and they have been brought up to believe the same. This all seems a bit like brain washing a child to me. I know some people have discovered their religion for themselves, but only a very small percentage.

4) If one is right, all the others must be wrong. What about the thousands of generations that existed before say, Christianity, are they all damned?

5) The church or whatever always seem to ask for money. For instance, my local church sent around a note to remind parishioners that at the start of this year, they made a promise to God that they would raise money for a new roof for the church. Does the Almighty really lose sleep over a leaky church roof? To me this sort of stuff undermines religion.

I haven't written the above just to offend, but sometimes you have to question things.

Technically I'm Catholic. Baptized, made my first communion, spent 6 years in Catholic school. But for all that I feel no real connection with "God,"and when it came time for confirmation, I decided against it.

Excommunicated Mormon even though two other Mormons from another ward i worked with know i was out of town on that day with them on a construction job and could not have done what i was accused of.

no one from my ward ever ask them.

Now i seem to be the only deist here.

I self identify as a Christian, as I was raised Roman Catholic, and believe in many of the tenets of the Church. There are many things I disagree with, most notably the attitudes of the church towards gay individuals. Catholics dont get so tied up in knots about The Word like alot of protestants do, but it still causes some issues.

I think God is greater than any one religion or person could possibly comprehend. If we could see His entirety we would probably be driven insane by its sheer scope. I think most of the main religions have some aspect of the truth, but they are too blinded by dogma to see each other's similarities, and the value of thier differences.

"The wolf shall dwell with the lamb,

and the leopard shall lie down with the kid,

and the calf and the lion and the fatling together,

and a little child shall lead them.

The sucking child shall play over the hole of the asp,

and the weaned child shall put a hand on the adder’s den.

They shall not hurt or destroy

in all my holy mountain:

for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord

as the waters cover the sea [isa. 11:6, 8-9]."

And Become as a Little Child

In modern culture, pride and confidence in oneself is emphasized as a key to survival and even success. Christ, on the other hand, admonishes his followers to abase themselves, recognizing their own nothingness. It is in this mode of humility that God is able to make his abode with a person and do great things through them.

We must become as a little child. In 3 Nephi 11 (from Book of Mormon text), where Jesus sets forth his doctrine, in two verses he utters what at first glance appears to be a statement then restatement of the same thing.

37 And again I say unto you, ye must repent, and become as a little child, and be baptized in my name, or ye can in nowise receive these things.

38 And again I say unto you, ye must repent, and be baptized in my name, and become as a little child, or ye can in nowise inherit the kingdom of God. (3 Nephi 11:37,38.)

However, upon closer inspection, in the first verse he is stating that becoming as a little child is prerequisite to being baptized, and the "these things" that one "receives" is the baptism of fire and of the Holy Ghost mentioned two verses prior. In the latter verse, the person has been baptized, and becoming as a little child is then prerequisite to inheriting the kingdom of God.

So becoming as a child is both necessary for entering the path as well as in staying on the path to be numbered in the kingdom of God.

This principle of of humility was exemplified by the Savior himself, as explained by Nephi:

"But notwithstanding he being holy, he showeth unto the children of men that, according to the flesh he humbleth himself before the Father, and witnesseth unto the Father that he would be obedient unto him in keeping his commandments." (2 Ne. 31:7.)

Ironically, even the resurrected Lord maintains humility, as aluded to by Moroni, when he said: "And then shall ye know that I have seen Jesus, and that he hath talked with me face to face, and that he told me in plain humility, even as a man telleth another in mine own language, concerning these things."

Cuddles,

PS: Doesn't say in Isaiah, how old that suckling child may actually be...(Hell, I'm still a suckling child, for cryin' out loud!) It's all relative interpretation. As most Christian doctrine should be. To my mind.

Or, as Bruce Lee would put it: "Absorb what is useful."

I didn't find my button!! Taoism please...I think. It seems to follow the closest to my beliefs. Either that or Hinduism. I think that we will all be suprised when we really do find out!!! I also think that "God" will be really really mad at us all. For what we do to ourselves, our fellow man and our environment. Just my thought!

Pegan for a long time but had to play the Christian role. Recently, My very religious Fiance Converted to pegan as well. Shockingly enough I had very little to do with it. She approched me one day saying the she doesn't believe anymore. All this while not knowing my true beliefs. Then I showed her Zeitgeist:The Movie and it cemented it for her. I highly recommend those of you who are closed minded and easily offended to not click the link unless you are prepared to see that movie. Sorry ,to those of you that do, if you disagree with it, don't complain or argue with me about it. You have been warned!
