Unexpected Family Member

Emma giggled and slipped into the closet, trying not to be found.

After emptying her bowels for the 5th time that day Clare called for Anna. "Mommy? Can you help me?" she asked sheepishly. The mess in her panties wasn't bad enough to soil her pants, but she knew she'd only make things worse if she tried to deal with it alone.

Evelyn heard her sister giggle and ran over, tagging her. Then she bolted, easily scaling the baby gate and running upstairs.

Anna sighed, but smiled. "Sure honey. Let's get you changed and then we'll go get the tree, okay?" She said leading her daughter upstairs.

"Hey hey hey! Emma, Evelyn, get down here! And use your indoor voices!" Doug ordered when he realized what the twins had done.

Clare stared at her feet as they headed upstairs. "I'm sorry. I tried..." she mumbled.

"I know you did honey" Anna said gently. She took Clare to her room and grabbed some fresh panties before cleaning her up in the bathroom.

"Mommy, is the new doctor going to make me better?" Clare asked as she stepped into her clean pants. She knew she was going to see a special doctor after Christmas, but had no clue what it would entail. She just hoped for an end to the tummy aches, vomiting, and constant diarrhea.

"I hope so baby." Anna said tossing the messy panties in the laundry room when they got back downstairs. "We think he will but we have to wait and see."

Emma nodded. "I wanna pick the tree dis time!"

Clare re-joined Julianna in the playroom. "Did you finish your letter?" she asked cheerfully, hoping the girl didn't know she'd just messed herself. It was bad enough that her big sisters sometimes teased her for it, she didn't want this new girl doing it too.

"No, We're not picking out another tree. We're putting up the one we got yesterday," Doug informed Emma.

Julianna nodded. Her handwriting was terrible and barely legible but she wrote it. She didn't know Clare had messed herself, and if she did she wouldn't have said anything anyway.

Clare peeked at the list. Being only 5 she was just learning to read, but she couldn't make any sense of Julianna's chicken scratch. "Um, okay. So...what does it say?" she asked sheepishly.

Evelyn smacked Emma. "Emma, 'top it!"
