diaperedindayton
Was looking for a cheaper alternative for soakers for cloth. Link to comment
Little BabyDoll Christine
I do not use "soakers"; that is, added material between the legs. The extra layers take longer to get the wet away from that part of the body, which is delicate. Result 'burn, baby, burn". Also if the soaker contains more material than the "outside", the "outside [toward the side edges]" of the diaper reaches capacity while the soaker can hold more still. So the wet has nowhere to go and stays next to that delicate tissue: "Burn, baby, burn" revisitied. It would be better to have, let us say, 6 layers of material throughout the diaper than 4x8x4. Also flats dry more eaisly than prefolds, expecially havyweight prefolds. Another thing about this is that, if the between the legs part is relatively thin, wet passes through them and comes up agains the waterproof panties. Having nowhere to go, it spreads along the outside of the diaper so that the diaper wets from the outermoust layer inwards with a relatively small wet spot where the wet enters the diaper Link to comment
diaperedindayton
thanks for the input, now just got to decide go with the 2 layers or the 4 layers Link to comment
BigC300
If you want "cheap", get some very large bath towels and fold them up so you can pin them in an absorbing fashion. If they don't absorb enough, stuff smaller towels in there until there are enough to soak up all the moisture. You could pay a little more and get some excellent quality prefold diapers from vendors who specialize in adult cloth diapers. They are very durable and stand up to hundreds of washings! diaperedindayton
So boils down to preference, I researched here and other places online and seems like it boils comes to preference. Link to comment
