BabyJune
When I wrote "Dirty Secrets," the caregiver was a pediatric nurse. A good story leads up to the "caregiver" part with interesting twists that the reader cannot predict. It can be someone whom you would never expect to play the role, or it can be a person who attains the role through "unforeseen circumstances." In the case of "Dirty Secrets," the nurse and her "charge" met as total strangers on a city bus. It makes things more interesting for your readers if they can't figure out what's coming next in the story--hard to do, but if you take your time and really think about the story, it can be done. Write...then re-write. Also, re-read from the perspective of your target audience and not as yourself. (In other words, write what other people want to read). Good luck meeting the challenge. It's fun! Link to comment
