Another person traveling towards Incontinence

That had to suck diapertime. I always tuck the diaper under my armpit and under my shirt. Yes sprago I to wait for the restroom to empty before disposing of my wet diaper.

I have, at times, carefully tucked the clean change into the back waistband of my pants and put my tee over it. I often wear a collared shirt over an undershirt anyway, so the combination makes it secure and completely invisible.

I have to say thank you to all of the neat replies with stories and experiences of biting the bullet when changing in public. I have been a little more daring of late in wearing comfidrys out and about with a buttondown shirt covering my front and back. So far so good.

One thing I want to point out. Is that when you go 24/7 your diapered bottom shape- even if it's super thick (like Bella or abena or dry 24/7 etc). Is your now normal shape. It's what people expect to see. It's not "obvious" in the sense that WOW something has changed. If someone does see a bulk. They will either think you just have a fat toosh, or you are wearing for medical reasons. No one os going to comment of really care either way. It does not draw nearly as much attention as it would say if you started wearing fresh out of surgery temporarily etc.

Long time no update.

As I said before in May, I am just enjoying my OAB, which has fully developed so that I have symptoms even without pushing fluids. I am comfortable in my identity as OAB wet and wear comfidry as my standard diaper (3-4) per day.

At the behest of my PC physician I was referred to a urologist, who after the initial exam states I have over active bladder and wants to start drug therapy after some invasive tests to see "why" I have oab. I am curious what the results will show because even though I have been working on the journey for YEARS I have never been able to get to the dribble phase. I am curious if there is a stricture or something I the urethra.

On my wife news, her oab has gotten worse and now has to wear pads. I told her to tell her PC physician and they nicely labeled it on her medical record as detrussor muscle hypertonia. I say nicely because on mine it is labeled in all caps overactive bladder. They also prescribed mybertiq which she doesn't want due to potential side affects and I don't want because it has no generic and would be over $100 a month. She, like me, absolutely doesn't want surgery and she has tried all the behavior tactics except kegels, though her pcp said that is more for stress incontinence.

Now, I am constantly assuring her the pad does not show. She is using the night time absorbency tena pad and it is every bit as thick as a diaper, but it is invisible. My hope is that she will get used to it over time and either accept that as her protective level, or realize diapers are not going to destroy her fashion. She's afraid of that eventuality and having to complete rethink/change her wardrobe. She said to me, "guys have it easier! They can wear loose pants, but girls wear tight clothes." I always thought I girls had an easier time but oh well.

Needless to say, my use of diapers is completely accepted and understood as the best solution for my "problem" so now we have two married people using protection for over active bladder, one by design and one by nature.

One thing I read yesterday was that there seems to be a difference in the bacterial profile between people with "normal" bladder behavior and people with OAB. It seemed odd, but the article stated that the average in the control group was about 20 varieties of bacteria, while the people with OAB had more than 60. It made me wonder whether it is a cause, effect, or simply correlated without implying causation. I can imagine that a wider variety of germs could either cause irritation to the bladder lining and encourage OAB or on the other hand the bacteria could be a result of more frequent bathroom trips, occasional wet undergarments, or incontinence products.

Probably cause and effect. I can see if you're wet more down there more often, then you will have a better breeding ground for more bacteria to take root. That might explain why so many new DL's who start wetting more, also get more rashes. Interesting though, if you can overcome those rashes (and more bacteria), I suppose that would also make you more resistant to getting UTI's in the future.

I have been away from dd for a while. My wife is not aware of a fetish aspect to this and in truth it doesn't feel like one..., but she likes to grab my phone and snoop out of boredom so I deleted my tappatalk.

Happy? Yes and no. It is wonderful to know I am secure in my identity and that I have support.

But... It can be very very very inconvenient. For example, just the other day, I was in need of a change and thought I would be able to change when I got home later when I got a call... One of my parishioner's son attempted to commit suicide and I had to get to the hospital ASAP. Having to worry about a leak when being 100% present with the family sucked

... I had to pack a diaper in my hospital kit and while the family was being escorted to the e.r. Operating waiting room, change in the hospital bathroom. I turned on the water to conceal the noise of my changing.

Inconvenient but also one of the main reasons I am dependent on my diapers. I cannot leave every 15 minutes when I am dealing with sobbing parents and they need a shoulder to cry on. Whatever needs I have at that point have to come second.

As I said in May, I imagine in a few years I will get more of the tinkle effect, but I am so happy to be at the point that I can legitimately go to the urologist and talk about my OAB. Given the way my life worked out, I get the feeling I would have ended up this way even if I didn't like diapers... Even before the journey I could not to consistently wait 3-6 hours between wettings, and I would often be stuck.

Another reason it sucks is I cannot travel with other people for long drives. Well, I can because of the diapers but my wife cannot so we tell people she had OAB and we need to stop often. I am shocked and applaud people that can drive 10 hours and stop maybe 3 times. We stop almost every rest stop and it is not fair to slow everyone down because of us.

Still, the benefits outweigh the losses for me and I am truly happy in my condition. Unafraid of discovery (not that I seem discovery) and set in my path. :) I hope everyone else on this journey can get to that mental state (physical or not) so that real enjoyment can sink in.

Yea, the diapers are essentially my underwear and there is a sense of normalcy with that, but when I am in bed wet and pat my soaked diaper and cannot help but smile. I don't need much more than this and can love my life outside of diapers to the fullest :D

8 years later…. Wow.

hi, everyone!

so I thought I would give some updates in my life. Married 10 years now with a very supportive wife and a six year old son.

my diaper of choice is better dry with a north shore booster.

regarding my progress, I am still solidly overactive bladder but in no way fully incontinent. I do not have reflex wettings nor do I have enuresis.

life kind of got in the way of actively pursuing incontinence, so you might ask why I am necro raising this old thread. Well, I think it is time to try again with the ultimate goal being bed wetting.

I have been diaper dependent for almost 20 years at this point and I do have accidents by virtue of overactive bladder and inability to use the restroom. I have a long commute and I am often in situations that make it difficult to sneak away to use the restroom. Additionally, I have noticed that if I try to use the urinal the structure of my diaper is never quite as sound and I am prone to leaks, so more often than not I will simply use the diaper instead of trying to prolong changes.

my issue that is causing me to start again is lack of sleep. At 40 I need rest more than ever. I wake up every morning around 4 to go for a 7 mile run. It’s the only time I can break away to be sure I am left alone to think and relax. Therefore my sleep is precious and being interrupted 1-3 times a night to get up to pee is ruining my rest.

it is time to finish my training… so I can get a good night’s sleep!

Are you not diapered at night?  I still wake up to pee (sometimes, not all the time now) but "get up to pee" dropped off my menu long ago ?  Even if I *do* wake to pee, it's not much awake and doesn't last long.

I caught my first sleep wetting event at around 7 - 9 months of 24/7 but it wasn't before around the 3 year mark where I would have described it as "common".  Even today, it's prone to disappearing for brief holidays.

I am diapered pretty much 24/7 except for Bowel movements and my morning run on the treadmill which is done after quadruple voiding.

the issue with my nightly voids is that when I wake up due to the bladder pressure I have to adjust my position to urinate in a way that won’t leak (I am a side sleeper with a pillow between my legs). That conscience movement wakes me up and then I find it difficult to go back to sleep.

I have yet to find a diaper that works for side sleeping as no matter how good the diaper, gravity is going to do it’s thing and the liquid WILL go to the sides resulting in a leak. Therefore I often switch to frogleg position as that has the least chance of leaking.

Welcome back!

What do you mean by "quadruple voiding"?

I have gone back to cloth at night because I am a side and stomach sleeper. A good double-diapering of cloth and maybe a stuffer has been sufficient for me for sleeping, and voiding, in any position. Maybe give cloth a try? This is even better than the disposable-cloth combo I've advocated for years. 2 or 3 layers of a thick cloth diaper will give you what you seek.

So quadruple voiding means.

1 void the moment I wake up (full void)

2 void as I do my bowel movement (decent stream)

3 void when I stand up after bowel movement as my body feels like it has to (usually a few drops or a 1 second stream)

Go upstairs to weigh myself for health tracking. Change into workout cloths

4 attempt one last void before running

run for 1 hour and then do weights for 39 minutes.

void after workout, shower (usually void in the shower), then change into morning diaper (betterdry with booster)

regarding cloth diapers. I just don’t have the laundry space for it. My wife and I are already  constantly doing laundry… and never catching up lol.

plus at night I do a hybrid cloth anyway. I use microfiber cloths from Costco folded into thirds as a booster at home. In the morning, I rinse that, ring it out and then put it in a bag beside the laundry that gets washed with the towels. These dry well and quickly whereas cloth diapers typically haven’t for me.

  • 2 weeks later...

Some reflections a week later.

1. I am glad someone turned me onto the reminder app to pee every 15 minutes to forcibly work on relaxing tone. I am one day into that and experiencing more awareness of my bladder. I am also attempting to pay attention to the balancing of sipping constantly, especially when attempting to urinate.

2. I could not get catnip tea, but an drinking “Everyday Detox” tea which utilizes nettle tea to flush the kidneys. Since it is summer and it’s in season, I have been eating lots of watermelon ?

3. I am looking to order plastic pants from Babykins, but before I do, I want to make sure I get the right size. I am a medium betterdry, a small megamax, small confidry. So my question is, would I order mediums since that’s my general diaper size? Would I order large to be a size bigger than my disposables? What’s the appropriate way to measure to get it right? Too big and it’s useless, too small and I get uncomfortable ligature marks and rashes.

4. speaking of knowledge, I wish I had known years ago when I started this journey the importance of activating your diaper. Every diaper change I stretch the diaper in all directions, pop up the leak guards, fold the diaper in half. If I use a booster, I do the same thing to it. It’s amazing what that does to the efficiency of any diaper I wear. I also only powder the creases in my legs to avoid chafing instead of powdering the whole diaper area. Powder clogs the diaper like mud and should only be used to prevent friction in the legs. Rash cream is the only protection that goes on diaper area and only a little bit. I also NEVER use coconut oil. While it’s supposedly great for the skin, it absolutely destroys disposable diapers and the glue inside so that the diaper literally falls apart.

hope everyone has a great weekend!
