How many of you were made to wear diapers/nappies during long rides

Recommended Posts

I used to be put into nappies for long car rides when I was very young, not because I couldn't hold it, but because I wet the bed and there was always a chance I'd fall asleep if it was a really long trip. At the time I protested, but I think I started to realise what I was missing when I wasn't given a nappy anymore.

....The attitude of the parents and rest of the family makes a big difference....

Does it ever! I had the opposite problem- an unreliable bladder and no protection allowed- ever :( The he!! I got from everyone (including family) who saw my wet pants was beyond awful. My siblings teased me mercilessly over it till my mid-teens and unless you've gone through something similar, you just can't understand how deeply words can hurt :crybaby:

Mom always took precautions with myself and sister when we would travel. Thick cloth diapers and plastic pants and just a t-shirt and shoes

Their have been reports of Indian Air force Pilots who fly the SU-30 MKI wear Diapers under their flight suits on long duration missions.

I had a younger brother who wore diapers at night until he was 6. Mom used to lay out our pajamas at night and we got dressed for bed in front of her & Dad. One night there was a diaper and plastic pants with my pajamas. I said "why are diapers with my pajamas?". Dad said "do you want to wear them?". I said no. I still regret that to this day. And I now wear diapers & plastic panties whenever possible.

I was made to wear diapers on long car trips until I was into my early teens. Dad was always hell bent to get where we were going and only stopped for gas. Not being one who could go on command I always wound up pooping my pants and wetting them sometimes as well. On one vacation dad was mad that I pooped my pants and I was made to wear diapers for 2 weeks day and night ( except swimming ) and told I will learn to go when we stop or I would be in diapers for a long time. The whole 2 weeks I was wetting and messing myself I was so scared about having to wear for school etc. I was 13 at the time and just hitting puberty and wasn't sure of what was happening to me. When we got home I was made to wear for nighttime for about 6 months until I stopped wetting the bed.

I was diapered for long car trips until 2nd grade. I recall traveling across country when my family moved from California to the Midwest the summer before I started 2nd grade. I was still wearing night diapers for bedwetting and had occasional daytime accidents, so my mom decided that diapers would be better for me during our travels. She diapered me before the trip started and when we arrived in Arizona to visit my grandparents along the way, I remember being self conscious about being in diapers. I remember arriving in the afternoon and getting out of the car in my thick cloth diapers and plastic pants. My mom decided to keep me diapered since we were all tired from the car trip and I would be going to bed early. We stayed a few days and I was diapered for the remainder of the trip to our new home.

when I was 6, I was not let to run around with the rest of the boys due to a sever visual deficit cased by Rubella. Consequnetly I spent very much time with the girls. Besides that I already had a few girlish attributes, such as I loved dolls and a couple of others. So, after mcuh wrangling, as explained in my blog entry "the Making of a Little Girl", it was a bit different. It was decded that I could be a little girl among those whose families were comfortable with the idea and would have me. There were three takers One, the Rockques with whom I stayed with two or three days a month and lived nearby. the deonc, who had two girls, Sharon and Cheryl, whose last names I forget and with whom I stayed far fewer times, maybe a total of 30 days in 3 years and the third I think I stayed with about 10 in 3 years and everybody knew everybody so the treatment was pretty much the same acroos the three families. This was from about May of 1952 to about May of 1955 when the Rocques moved away. there were 4 girls from about 6 months older than I to about 14, the latter whom I rarely saw

Now this was very shortly, within a decade and a half after the Depression and there was a fact. Little boys tended to roam and loved wooded areas so relieving themselves was no problem. Little girls tended to stay at a house of one of the group of friends and are built differently. Now, the word regarding me was that I was to be treated "...like one of your own". if the group included two or more girls who could not hold it COMFORTABLY for two hours or were under 8 years old, they were to be in diapers and rubber panties. They idea was to save water by keeping the number of flushes down and two or three extra girls going every hour and a half, between noon and 4:30 or 5 would use much more water. Thse Depression era folks were frugal burdering on cheap. So since I was one of the girls under the age limit and I could not hold it comfortably for two hours, I was put in diapers like the other under-8 year old girls and punished in the same manner as the girls

This did a very good thing for me by teaching me to keep the two parts of me separate and made sure that I knew which one came firt, but I got all I wanted of being a girl among girls that I liked being a girl with, so I was happy. This also meant that I did not become gender confused and did not have to "hold back" when it came to being either

As far as long rides, no. Most long rides in my area meant roads along wooded areas so all that needed to be done on long trips was just stop and any of the boys or men who needed to go would just go off-road a few dozen feet, find a tree (not a big job) and go

Who did you have to carry a "range extender"? As a boy, why not just stop at a wooded area and "go in the bushes"? or "see a man about a horse"?

Actually I am very skeptical about "what doctors say" as I am about just about all "one size fits all [Procrustean]" things. If half of it were true I would have died of skin cancer 20 years ago or some other condition would have gotten me, including back problems from long rides. From my experience, most doctors, in person tend to leave it as an individual case. The largest parameter is heredity and family history. Just recently I have developed Osteopenia and vitamin D deficiency due to some internal breakdown remedied by medical grade D and Calcium supplementation but look at my age. the real story of modern medicine is the "yourh extension" drugs that combat the effects of aging. Beta blockers like Attenalol combat high blood pressure, Calcium and D combat "brittle bones". better upper GI and now Endoscopy have given us more insight into "hiational hernia" very often mis-dianosed as ulcer in previous years. Colonoscopy replaces the old "lower GI"/barium enema. as well as enable prevention by early diagnosis and polyp elimination, of colon cancer. the worst thing about colonoscopy is the preparation but the accuracy is tenfld

The "art" of medicine is knowing when to act and when to back off and that is what you do not hear in all the media noise; being both scientifically ignorant and collectivists, that would get by them. Also the best tjing you can do for yourself is have a widely varied diet, since the more different things you eat, the greater the chance that you will include the right amounts of the nutrients and auxiliary materials you need. The next thing is to avoid the lure of the Supplements Industry, in fact if it is not recommended by a competent medical person: Don't. You have no idea of how much "work around" that medicine has to do to deal with patients who gobble those things down, especially things related to surgery

Now to be sure, we cannot fix everything, but we are light-years ahead of where we were. the operative term is "60 is the new 40" to which I once quipped to my cornea specialist "Yeah; but they don't tell you that 65 is the new 80"

I think I must be the only person who somewhat enjoys the medial appointments becuase I get to ask questions about the science which enables me to make the best use of what is offered. It is also amazing how far we have come in surgical science. When I need a second corneal transplant I am going to see if I cannot get a synthetic one. Aside form not needing the anti-rejection steroids, there is something attractive about "man made"

I never wet the bed or anything. My bladder control has always been phenomenal. My mother was just sadistic and made me do messed up stuff 'cause I was only a kid, including wearing a diaper, which was one of her punishments for me. Now, I'm turned on by wearing them and love to wear them when I'm home, winding down.
