  1. Today is laundry day (Monday). I did a load of clothes and a load of diapers. I wash my dirty clothes every Monday. I do a large load of diapers every 3 days on average. I wear cloth diapers 90% of the time to manage my leaky bladder and go through multiple diapers every day. I put the wet diapers in individual plastic bags and toss them in a oder proof tall diaper bin until wash day. This keeps the oder at a minimum. Been doing it this way for many years.
  2. I have gone through TSA many times and have never been questioned about my wearing diapers or having them in my carry-on or in my luggage. I carry small, travel sized items such as powder and A&D Ointment. I have been doing this for 25 years and have never had an issue.
  3. Thanks for the replies. I did order a couple packs of Tranquility overnight pull on diapers. I have used Tranquility tape on diapers in the past and they worked just fine. I am prepared but my orthopedic physician now wants to wait and have me go through physical therapy and get multiple cortisone shots to try to heal my shoulder. I had an MRI done yesterday which showed multiple tears as well as a great deal of inflammation. I am so tired of the chronic pain.
  4. I don't have any issues with my wife helping me change. I just want to be able to change in the middle of the night without having to wake her. Plus she is scheduled to go to visit family a week or so after my surgery. If I develop a rash I do have a few pull-on cloth diapers that I could use. I can get by during the day with adult pull-ups which I already have. I will be without my right arm for a few weeks. I am severely right handed so I have been trying to do everything left handed. It has been a challenge to say the least.
  5. I am wondering what is the best pull-on disposable diaper for overnight use. I am going to have surgery in a few weeks and will be laid up for several weeks at home post surgery. I will not be able to change my diapers (urinary incontinence) as one of my arms will be in a cast & sling. My wife has offered to help me but I want to try to do it myself. I usually wear cloth at night which I won't be able to do so I am looking for a pull-on heavy duty disposable thst I can change one handed. I occasionally wear disposables but I develop nasty rashes when I wear them for extended periods.
  6. I wear diapers 24/7/365 due to urinary incontinence. I wear cloth most of the time but I do wear disposables when traveling. My appendix burst several years ago and I needed emergency surgery. My wife informed the medical staff that I was incontinent. I spent 6 days in the hospital after the surgery and was diapered the entire time. The first couple of days the nurses changed me as I was in too much pain to do it myself. ? Hospital diapers are terrible as they leaked and didn't hold much urine. I was so glad when I was released so I could get back to wearing cloth. I spent a month or more recouping at home before getting back to work.
  7. Good fitting plastic pants have forward facing leg holes. They should be large enough that the diaper fabric does not come in contact with the elastics. Experiment with folding the diaper and pinning it on so that it doesn't hang too much when wet. I have been doing this multiple times a day for almost 25 years and it took a while to get the folding right for me and to find the right brand of plastic pants to wear. It is a learning process.
  8. I have a half dozen or so older twill cloth diapers that are probably 5+ years old. They are getting ratty looking and shed lint like crazy but as long as I can still pin them on I will wear them. They are great for overnight with a soaker or just wearing around the house as the are very comfortable to wear. They started out as 4-10-4 diapers but are more like 4-8-4 diapers or thinner yet. Once I am unable to pin them on I will use them as soakers.
  9. I have been using the "Tuffy" plastic pants from Babykins for many years. I like them better than the old Comco plastic pants. The are made from 6 mil vinyl that is very soft and supple. They have a 1 inch waist band covered with satin. The seams are heat sealed and sown. They last a long time if properly handled. I order them with the smooth side on the inside making them easier to wipe clean when changing. The other side has a very fine texture. They are a little higher in the waist than their 4 mil vinyl pants and the last way longer. They are generously cut for a roomier fit so if you are looking for a more "baby like" look then these would work for you. I wear these daily as I am urinary incontinent. They are comfortable to wear. I wear contour cloth diapers during the day and full size diapers with 10 ply soakers at night and the are roomy enough to go heavier if need be.
  10. It's cloth for me 95% of the time. I wear 24/7/365 out of necessity as I have a neurogenic bladder caused by injuries from an accident. I do wear disposables while traveling away from home and I carry a couple emergency disposables in my vehicle and boat just in case. I tend to get nasty rashes when wearing disposables for extended periods. I love wearing cloth diapers. They are so much more comfortable to wear than disposables. I almost never leak at night when wearing cloth. During the day I wear contour prefolds pinned and covered with plastic pants. This combination is less bulky than most disposables and can hold more urine than pull on disposable briefs. Changing the contour diapers is easy and can be done standing up if necessary. At night I wear standard prefolds with a soaker pad added covered with plastc pants. Over the years I have come to like my nighttime diaper system because it works no matter how I sleep. I can go to bed knowing that I won't leak all over and sleep the night through. I always wake up with a wet diaper but on a dry bed. Rarely I might get a damp leg elastic but that is maybe 2 or 3 times a year.
  11. I wear cloth diapers and plastic pants 24/7. I do wear disposables when traveling but 95% of the time I wear cloth. I am urinary incontinent. I tend to get rashes after a couple days of wearing disposables. For daytime wear out in public I wear contour diapers from. Changing Times. I wear a pair of plastic pants over the diaper and a snap crotch onesie to hold everything in place. I can wear this combination under jeans, shorts or dress slacks and it is unnoticeable. The contour diapers are not at all bulky. If it was noticeable my wife would certainly point it out to me. I work in retail and meet with people every day. Nobody notices. At night I wear prefolds with cloth soaker pads covered by plastic parts. These you do not want to wear in public as they are bulky and very noticeable.
  12. I was spanked for wetting the bed. I hated wetting the bed. I wasn't trained at night until I was 4-1/2 years old. I stayed dry at night until I was around 7 years old. I don't know why I started wetting at night but I wet my bed around 5 or 6 nights a week. I was very small for age and finally grew out of wetting at night shortly before I turned 16. My mother never spanked me for wetting. My father would pull me to my room in the evenings and whip me with his belt. I remember that sometimes the whipping would go on for several minutes. My father was proud of the welts he put on my backside. He always believed that I was wetting on purpose and that I was just too lazy to get up and go to the bathroom. My mother suffered from MS and she didn't need the extra work of washing my sheets so I washed them. There was a rubber sheet under my sheets to protect the mattress. My parents took me to a clinic and they were told that it wasn't my fault and that I was small for my age and would eventually grow out of it. My father wasn't going to buy their diagnosis and continued to blame me for being too lazy to get out of bed. I absolutely hated wetting my bed. Our family doctor finally told my mother to just put me back in diapers at night which she did. I wasn't fond of wearing diapers at 10 years old and neither was my father as he continued giving me the belt on a regular basis. I stayed dry from 16 years of age (1973) until 1998 when I was in a nasty car/semi accident. I had several injuries with one being damage to my lower spinal cord which took my bladder control and left parts of my lower extremities numb. I spent a great deal of time in physical therapy and meeting with neurologists and urologists. I am able to walk but still have areas on my legs and bottom that are totally without feeling. I was diagnosed with a neurogenic bladder. It has shrunk to almost nothing over the years and I constantly dribble throughout the day and night. I struggled having to wear diapers again but over the years I don't even give it much thought any longer. Wearing protection 24/7/365 is part of my life and I don't let it slow me down. I was hospitalized for a week a few years ago and struggled having the nurses diaper me as I am very capable of doing it myself.
  13. I have been wearing cloth diapers since 1998. I switched to mainly cloth for two reasons. The cost of disposable diapers and the fact that I get nasty rashes after wearing disposables for a few days in a row. I am totally urinary incontinent so I would go through multiple disposables each day. I seldom get rashes from wearing cloth diapers. I have my own washer and dryer. Cloth diapers last several years. I normally purchase a half dozen every 3 or 4 years. I have several prefolds that are probably close to 12 years old. They get a little ragged over the years but they still do the job. During the day I wear contour diapers as they are less bulky under my clothes. Cloth diapers work great for me. With quality plastic pants they seldom give me any issues. I wash a load of diapers every 3rd or 4th day. After 3 days my diaper pail gets a little nasty.
  14. I wear cloth diapers and plastc pants 24/7/365. I wear cloth because they are better for my skin. I am urinary incontinent and switched to cloth several years ago. I was getting rashes from wearing disposables. I do keep a few disposable diapers on hand just in case but I can't remember the last time I used one. I wear contour diapers during the day and they don't have as much bulk as regular adult prefolds. I have been wearing these for years and nobody has said anything to me.
  15. I use babykins 6 mil "Tuffy" pants. They are very comfortable to wear. They have a 1" wasteband and very soft but strong vinyl.
