After much thought (well not that much really), It has come to a time to expand the site for Moderators.
I would like to hear a chime in from those who would like to be considered for this task. It can be from the person them selves or others nominating someone. Give a bit of history about why you think you or yours would be good for this "Valued" position.

Note that I ask this as I am giving my opinion to the site admin, and I would like to know if I nominate someone that they do indeed wish to be considered. I have a handful of names so far in my head, and I know so many more of you that I might not have thought of right away are worthy of the title. I need a bit of a reminder from some that may be valued members but tend to lurk most of the time. (Post count isn't as important as post quality)

Note again that this is just for myself, but I am sure the other Mods will read this thread as well. Recently most of you will notice the site has undergone some changes with more to come. This isn't that any of us now Admin/Mods are leaving. It's just that time constraints and other things in life make time on the site a bit tight.

So I ask again. Do you have the time, the system, the wherewithal, the just good common sense while remaining neutral to help us run this site with the ongoing growth and improvements? IF so I want to hear from you Sir and Ma'am!

I am also using this post to ask for a group of members to step up and help with a Welcoming committee for the newbies that join and give a intro in the forums. Just a simple post or whatever within there intro threads to welcome them to the boards.

We all know that coming out and joining a site like this can be a big deal to some, so a few faithful members that would be sure to say welcome and hello would be appreciated. Also I would like to ask that all members do this when you get a chance, let's not just read the posts like this and skip over them without saying at least Hello and welcome. I remember way back when I joined, I did this religiously. Now with time taken with other site duties, I have slacked off this task.

Back on the main topic again. If you put your name in or are nominated (please post your approval on this thread if you are) Don't be the slightest bit dis-heartened if you aren't chosen. This isn't a personal thing, just my way of getting some input. I don't make the final vote, merely a part of the voting process.

BTW, I am working on getting chat mods as well, so don't include those in this thread.

With great power, comes great responsibility.. Can you handle that? Tell me why!

Im interested. I would want to know what all it entails tho before I take it on. I think that since Im quite vested in the site its something I could adhere to naturally, and I would love to be a chat admin...... All that mgr experience or 5 plus years and now being a teacher can be put to good use lol.

I've known square-duck since the days of DPF and yahoo. At least 11 years now, and he has been an active member since forever. He is as active as his local community let's him be, and has a live and let live attitude.

I don't know if [DD] has section-only moderators, but I am highly interested in being a mod for the messing section only. It's just an area which sees high-traffic for troublemakers and since it's a niche-community, it isn't frequented by the current mods unless someone is reported. It's just a touchy topic and a total magnet for problem-causers.

It's hands-down my favorite section here on DD and it's where I spend most of my time when browsing these forums. I would even go as far as to say I'm one of the top contributers to that section. (Even though it's not the busiest section ). If not me, then someone else at least. It would help it feel more official and would cut back on the troublemakers a bit.

As for availability, we'll, I'll put this way. I'm done school and I'm not currently working (even when I do, it will only be part-time). The time I could dedicate to [DD] would be quite a lot.

As for a general forum moderator, I would nominate Square Duck.

I've been a member for two years, seem to get along well with 90%+ of the community. I refuse to play favorites or be heavy-handed. Basically, if I see a problem, I'd advance any disciplinary action to the admins and only step in as a moderator when and if there is a problem with a flame war or gross disrespect to a segment of the community (LGBT-bashing will be a major thing I'd watch out for). I also have tons of time on my hands, and I am easily reachable via IM and email if I am not on DD itself.

First I would like to second the nomination for Square duck. I believe he would be a great mod because he is a great guy.

Second I would like to put my own name down. I have a large history of running websites and helping others create websites. I was in charge of copyright infringement on a popular video sharing website about four years ago, I was the chat moderator here on this site for quite a while (something I would also be willing to do again), and I have the personality and experience to be level headed and fair in any decisions I make.

I don't think you'd want me as a mod. I'd do things to clean this place up. Eliminate controversial content and those who post it, and work to erase DD's reputation with the younger crowd as a haven for creepers/trolls/HNGs.

Neutrality is for the Swiss... I believe in encouraging sanity, decency, maturity and intelligence among posters.

You can't grow this site if a big percentage of Gen Y ABDLs won't come here.

Come to think of it, I don't believe you have any members of Gen Y on staff.

It'd be a cool idea to have specialist mods too, like Goden for the stinky room, and an LGBT member for the Rainbow subforum specifically--unless that's bettypooh's specialty, a sissy for the sissy room, and such.

I'll nominate myself. I'm a glutton for punishment having moderated mailing lists and boards for 25 years. I do understand this forum (and was in the top 5 monetary contributors). Controversy in posts is fine, discussion is good, it's gratuitous personal attacks (as well as some broken record attempts to shutdown or disrupt discussions) that are the problem. I feel the moderators need to hold themselves to a higher standard.
